Graham Greene wrote a script in 1944 – it surfaced in 1983 – unused. Greene published it as a novel (or an entertainment) for the first time in 1985 – this edition published by The Bodley Head, London.

Tall octavo, 158 pages, a little sign of age, still a very good copy.

A rather provoking story and seamlessly laid out. If you are inclined to blame, then this might be the one for you

Octavo, 156 pages, a little marked to top edge otherwise very good, super complete dust jacket.

Confusion and worry as Detective Longnon attempts to resolve a case alone … Sicilian gangsters make it tough. It gets very complex for Maigret.

The Night-mare – C.S. Forester – First edition 1954

First edition published by Michael Joseph, London in 1954. Octavo, 240 pages. Some wear to dust jacket an light edge spotting, otherwise a very good copy of this special WWII collection.

Forester wrote a number of “non-fiction” accounts based of WWII events. Here we have ten short stories based on true accounts recorded in the details of the Nuremberg and Belsen trials.

His introduction provides important perspective … for sure it was his personal wish that man should truly learn from the past. Well his writing is as always very readable.

Forester educates – a different book about the Second World War.

The Captain and the Enemy – Graham Greene – First Edition

Greene’s last novel a First Edition published by Guild, London in 1988. Octavo, 189 pages. Very good if not better condition.

A slightly strange one to end on … thought provoking, complex and much more than seems at first. Notwithstanding that comment the opening paragraph is a classic … too long to repeat here.
