First Edition published by Grosset & Dunlap, New York in 1928. Octavo, 335 pages, ownership inscription on front end paper. A very good copy in an excellent dust jacket.
At trial, Broadway showgirl, Mary Dugan is accused of murdering her lover with a knife. She appears done for when her lawyer pulls out … but a twist and turn provides an uncertain and baffling mystery. Superb adaptation of the 1920’s play. Was to be made into a successful talkie in 1929 by MGM and then a second go in the 1940’s
