THE JOURNAL OF THE ROYAL GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY 1909 September – Prof. J. W. Gregory – Further Antarctic Reports of the Expedition of 1901-1904

Short Description

A very good copy of The Journal of the Royal Geographical Society, September 1909, containing "Further Antarctic Reports of the Expedition of 1901-1904" by Prof. J. W. Gregory.

This article by Gregory examines the findings and observations of the National, Scottish, German and Swedish Antarctic expeditions that took place between 1901 and 1904. This analysis considers observations physical, geographical, geological and biological, seeking to draw, through comparative methods, a greater understanding of the Antarctic as a whole.

Also in this edition; a marvelous chart of the Western Pacific (spanning Samoa, through Fiji and the Solomon Islands to New Guinea and south to Queensland, Australia) accompanying an article which examines the history and [then] present condition of the region by Sir Everard Thurn. Additionally; an account of explorations in Central Asia, 1906-1908 with accompanying plates by Dr. M. Stein; and, an observation of air temperature in the Tropics, with accompanying diagrams, by G. T. McCaw.
