    Overall in good condition showing some signs of handling and impressions on close inspection. The rear of the photograph carries the Beattie’s copyright stamp, that of the Agent General for Tasmania and various notes.

    A good period image of a boating trip on the River Leve, North West Tasmania c1930. Size 21 x 15 cm and overall in good condition with some crimping from a previous mounting in the top left corner.

    J.C. Breaden is recorded as having been a gifted Hobart amateur photographer who was active from 1920. He died in 1947. The rear of the photograph carries his stamp, that of the Agent General for Tasmanian and various notes.

    Published in 1988 by Melbourne University at the Miegunyah Press and produced to their usual exceptional standard. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket.

    Unusual and important work. William Harvey (1811-1886) was one of the great Victorian Botanist. He travelled the Pacific and produced and book on Australian flora Phycologia Australica. He knew Hooker and Professor Asa Gray and corresponded with them. His visits to Australia included meeting the convicts at Port Arthur. This work based on his letters and paper unearthed at the Harvard University herbarium is brilliantly put together by the exceptional Sophie Ducker.

    Two catalogues, printed wrappers, Catalogue I – 89 pages, 16 plates (some colour); Catalogue II – 129 pages, 4 plates. Over 1600 items described. Catalogues for the sale of the collection formed by Doctor Clifford Craig, who based two of his works – ‘The Engravers of Van Diemen’s Land’ and ‘Old Tasmanian Prints’, largely on prints from his collection. A significant collection by any standards.

A large folding facsimile of the rare chart of Van Diemen’s Land (the South Extremity) by Captain John Hayes (1798) is of considerable interest to the cartographic collector.
